Wedding Stories
Sue and Anne are busy professionals who have been together for eleven years and have three children. The want a festive, Sunday afternoon, interfaith family wedding and are expecting 110 adults and 70 children!
Solution: We helped the client choose a venue with a large lawn and pond, ample space for the children to play and to accommodate their large guest list in a tent. The florist designed a gorgeous chuppah with a natural archway and the ceremony was held near the pond. The interfaith ceremony was performed by a rabbi and the band performed for a horah and lots of other family-friendly music. The caterer designed an entirely separate menu for the children, including a station for them during "mocktail hour." We hired a children's entertainer as well as someone to lead the children in arts and crafts throughout the afternoon. The end result was a beautiful, naturally elegant wedding with something for everyone. The guests were entertained for hours.
Ray and Dan are Europeans, together seventeen years and live in an impeccably renovated brownstone in Boston's South End. They are expecting a child within a few months and decide it's finally time to tie the knot. They would like an intimate, unfussy, elegant gathering for thirty guests in their home, followed by an outstanding meal and wine at a top restaurant.
Solution: We hired an officiant who would tell the story of their relationship in the most meaningful and personal way. We hired a string quartet to perform in the brownstone for two hours while guests enjoyed passed champagne and light hors d'oeuvres served by It's About Time staff. After some time of mingling, a beautiful ceremony began, followed immediately by group photos. The guests were then transported by town cars to one of the city's finest restaurants, where they enjoyed cocktail hour in the lounge, followed by the most amazing five course meal and live jazz in the private library room.
Tom and Brian from Tennessee wanted to secretly elope in Boston. They wanted a luxury weekend getaway that felt special and intimate.
Solution:They booked the It's About Time Destiny Platinum package. On a Friday morning, they were greeted in the lobby of their luxury hotel by Bernadette who took them to get their marriage license and waiver of the three day waiting period. They all had lunch and then the grooms changed into their tuxes back in the hotel room. The photographer came and began taking “getting ready” photos and shortly afterwards, we all met the Justice of the Peace in the hotel lobby. The ceremony was performed in a gazebo in a local park and celebratory champagne was opened immediately after. The grooms had dinner reservations at Top of the Hub (Boston's finest view) that evening. They had all day Saturday to enjoy their first day of marriage and headed back to their home state on Sunday morning
April and Hannah had a long distance relationship – one of them lived out of state. They'd only been together about a year but first met twenty years earlier in graduate school. Neither of them knew a lot of people in Boston so the bulk of their guest list of 70 would be from out of town and they wanted to honor their friends and family by offering them a weekend's worth of wedding activities.
Solution: It's About Time planned a sophisticated, ocean-themed wedding weekend. Guests began arriving in Boston on Friday and were invited to a casual cocktail reception at a local restaurant on Boston Harbor. The next evening, they boarded a boat headed about twenty minutes out to an island in Boston Harbor for a clambake/rehearsal dinner. On the island, they were greeted with a steel drum band, a caricaturist and fun, festive favors.
The next day, the guests were transported to the North Shore via limousine for a beautiful wedding on the water with a live band and impeccable view. The sea theme was carried into the wedding cake, decorations, stationary and food. Immediately following the reception, guests were transported back to Boston by limo to an after-party at another harbor-side restaurant. It was quite the whirlwind wedding experience!
